Laura Pyle is a native Austinite who has recently relocated to Oswego County, NY.
She studied violin at the Butler School of Music of Texas State University and brings with her over a decade of experience in the wedding music industry, having performed in sacred and secular events of many types. This experience affords her an understanding of the need for both excellence and flexibility on your special day.
She also performed as a member of the Gilman Light Opera Orchestra (GLOO) of the Gilbert & Sullivan Society of Austin for many years. Laura appears on several albums from her studio work on various projects in the Austin, Texas area.
Her experience performing professionally as a violinist and vocalist with numerous bands (from Americana to country to rock) makes her an invaluable asset to any group looking to add strings or vocal harmony to their sound.
In Austin, I performed alone and with a variety of other musicians at many event types. These included weddings and banquets as well as religious services, public events, and fundraisers. I've also been in several bands and have an electric pickup on my acoustic violin, which allows me to plug into amplified settings.
I plan to expand Anima in Oswego County to include options for duos, trios, string quartets and other ensembles, but at this time I am offering services as a violinist and singer with the possibility for a duo setting with piano or guitar accompaniment.
Anima is often asked how the name was chosen. "Animus" is the dominant latin term for the English word "soul." Creating effective music entails a great deal of heart and soul.
Using the feminine form of the latin, "Anima," the name loosely translates to "Soul Strings."
The name aligns with our mission to provide excellent, heartfelt music for every special occasion.
